According to reports, WhatsApp has started rolling out a new feature called 'Search the Web'. This feature will allow users to verify the authenticity of a link forwarded to them. WhatsApp has brought this new feature to control the spread of fake news.

After updating to the latest version of WhatsApp, you will see the magnifying glass button in the chat. Clicking on that icon will redirect the link in the WhatsApp message directly to the web, from where users can check the authenticity or source of that link.

Unfortunately, this new feature is currently only available to Android, iOS, and WhatsApp web users in Brazil, Italy, Ireland, Mexico, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States. However, it is expected to be available in other countries, including India in the future.

Allegations of spreading fake news through WhatsApp are not new. The company is also bringing new updates to this.
