According to Google, the new Coved Layer option in the Google Maps app will help users make informed decisions about where to go or what to do outside. From then on, when you open the Google Maps application, you will see a layer button in the top right corner. In that section, you can see an option called 'Covid-19 info'. By clicking on it, users will see new Covid-19 cases from the last seven days in a region on the map.

Not only that, some color codes have been added to Google Maps so that the region, especially the corona density, can be easily determined. Google says that in all countries where the Google Map app is launched, the trending case data will be visible on the map. State, district, and city-level information can be found in this data.

The agency said it was using data from the Johns Hopkins, New York Times, and Wikipedia to add this Covid-19 protection layer to Google Maps. Meanwhile, those sources - the World Health Organization (WHO), the government, and local health organizations collect data from reliable sources. As a result, it is hoped that Google Maps will provide accurate information about Corona trends.

Incidentally, last June, Google brought a similar feature. With that feature, users will be able to reach their destinations in a narrow space by avoiding congestion and traffic jams in a corona situation or be aware of which route buses or trains are more crowded.
